This car is the perfect example of designed by committee , it clearly is a compromise between the progressive and the conservative elements inside Jaguar, meant to offend as less people as possible. It doesn't push my buttons at all.
Look at this, it's like they considered the back of the F-Type to be too sexy and polarizing, so they dumped a bucket of orange soda on it.
I'm sorry Jag, but when you take the pictures of your main rivals and mash them together, hoping to get something unique, you end up with a premium turkey.
Come on, you can do much better.
Oh well, I guess Alfa will have to bring the sexy back.

Let's hope we get more Alfa here in the states soon.

The solution is clear in my opinion. Italian is the answer.

I think it looks great, but maybe that's just me.

I hope it's that reliable

I think Jags are some of the best looking cars in their respective classes personally.
And all those Alfa sketches are fugly.

I did the jaguar land Rover booth this year for the auto show. The big sedan is pretty nice and felt unique to me. They have to play it safe in some areas I guess. Here in SF I see few of the big jags vs the competition.

I agree it's a bit dull, but at least it's not outright unpleasant like the first S-type.
That said, Lexus isn't about style, it's about gadgets, comfort, all around competence, and exceptional build quality/refinement and reliability, often at the expense of some character.
I can't see Jaguar ever really ending up with those ideals.

Let me fix that:
Let's hope we get more Alfa here in the states everywhere soon.

I love the way the new XF looks. The old one was too curvy for me. Also comparing the mid range XF with the range toppers from other brands isn't exactly fair.

Na States is better.

You're crazy, it looks brilliant.

I just hope they don't turn their return into a fluke and make a loud statement, the hype they(and the media) created is huge.
03/24/2015 at 16:03 |

Have you seen the latest Lexus models? There's enough styling in each, to make two average looking cars.

I would be find with just simple cars. Ya thye have sporty cars but just get them here.

Ugh, it's true. I guess my mental image is still pre-Predator face.
![]() 03/24/2015 at 16:10 |

Lexus used to be like that, not anymore. Those predator grilles will be remember for a long time. Lexus went from making the most plain looking Luxury vehicles, from making the most stylistic in their class.
Wether you like Lexus' new cars or not, you have to give them credit for doing something controversial and crazy like this. I'm adoring it, Lexus is becoming its own thing more and more rather than playing catch up with the Germans.

Lets agree to disagree...

I think all the jags look MILES better than the lexus', why fix what isn't broken?
![]() 03/24/2015 at 16:14 |

Lexus quickly went from making some of the most plain and conservative looking luxury cars, to making the most stylistic and controversial ones. I'm loving it. As much as I love BMW, they make BMW look like old Lexus in the style department. Extremely aggressive and (for some ugly) cars define this era for Lexus. I hope more companies follow suit with more striking designs. They should have made the new Jag look like the F-Type but a sedan.

When I look at that rear quarter window, I see...
03/24/2015 at 16:46 |

Isn't that what designed by committee, as opposed to uniform brand vision, is all about?
03/24/2015 at 16:47 |
|
Because kaizen.
03/24/2015 at 16:52 |
|
I wasn't comparing, I was trying to exemplify the lack of freshness, I see in the new XF. Also, all Jaguars come with the letter S, on their grille?

That Jjjjjjjjjjjaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggg looks quite a lot like the current LS F-Sport.
03/24/2015 at 18:55 |

Do you have to feel any pain in your jaws when you say Jjjjjjjjjjjaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggg?

No. Should I?

I've seen this thing twice in person and I still don't like it.

While I agree that the new Jag is a little conservative, I gotta say it's very handsome.
